The Raid is a short documentary on the social movement known as WoW, and its worth your time to watch it. Its free and it’s online, though I’m not sure how much longer it will be up on the internet, so watch it soon.

The actual documentary begins about 27mins in. Before that, there is a commentary before the actual event where the creator of The Raid talks about the creation of the documentary. I found the segment mildly boring and uninteresting, but that’s my opinion. If you like what you hear, then by all means watch the first 27 minutes.

I consider The Raid to have a nice mixed group of interviewees, both those who play the game and then professionals who don’t, who’s ages varied from young (18+) to old (40ish). I was also very glad to see that they interviewed female gamers. They are a demographic rarely talked about, seen or heard, especially when they make up a huge percentage in the gaming industries. However, there were only three women in the documentary while there are almost 12 men but hey at least they tried.

So there’s that.
